Minnesota's truck scene is centered on the Minneapolis–St. Paul Twin Cities, with the State Fair as the annual cash machine. The Twin Cities' truck culture reflects the area's immigrant communities — strong Somali (sambusa and hilib), Hmong, and Vietnamese operators, plus the standard barbecue, tacos, and burgers. Minneapolis hosts some of the country's most ambitious food-truck events during summer; St. Paul's scene runs slightly more residential. The Minnesota State Fair in late August is the financial event of the year for any truck that lands a slot; operators plan their winter around it. Northern Minnesota's scene is seasonal but real.
